Pitcher: $7,700 Wade Miley- Miley has enjoyed an excellent start to the season and draws a great matchup with the banged-up Pirates. The Pirates have had to insert new faces into the lineup on account of their stars getting injured. Because of this, any pitcher that faces the Pirates gets an automatic boost in value. Due to his aptitude for striking batters out, Miley could turn in a dominant outing on the bump: something that he has shown he is capable of.
Catcher: $3,000 Alex Avila- Featuring Avila in my article yesterday ended up paying dividends as he was able to knock a ball out of the park. He is looking like an excellent option yet again as he should be able to continue his hot streak against Alex Meyer. Avila does most of his damage against righties such as Meyer, meaning a big game could be in the works yet again.
First Base: $3,700 Joe Mauer- Mauer is a new face in these articles as this is the first time that I have mentioned his name in one of my daily fantasy articles. Albeit the fact that he is only a shell of his former self, Mauer could be in for a big game. He has a dream matchup seeing as he is facing a subpar righty; the type of pitcher that Mauer tends to dominate. He is mainly in here as a safe and stable pick, yet he has flashed big game potential at times.
Second Base: $2,800 Brad Miller- Miller is one of the riskiest plays out there, yet is worth a look anytime he is facing a righty due to his immense power. Given the paucity of options at second, Miller only looks like a more enticing play. The Tampa Bay Rays are a potential stack candidate thanks to their matchup with Mike Pelfrey. That is a matchup that Miller should be able to take advantage of.
Third Base: $3,900 Jake Lamb- Lamb is another player that carries perpetual risk. However, with his play this season, the amount of risk has started to diminish. Lamb has performed very well over the past few weeks, and you will want to ride the hot hand here.
Shortstop: $3,300 Brandon Crawford- Due to the dearth of options at shortstop, I was left to start a player that I don’t fully trust. Crawford hasn’t proved to be the best hitter, but the matchup is there for him to succeed. There is some upside here, but this is mainly a pick due to lack of other options. Nevertheless, Crawford should still be able to carve together a nice day at the plate.
Outfield: $4,100 Corey Dickerson- As I said in an aforementioned paragraph: the Tampa Bay Rays draw a matchup with Mike Pelfrey. Given the type of numbers that Dickerson puts up against righties such as Pelfrey, a big game could be in the works. Dickerson has enjoyed an excellent start to what is looking like a breakout campaign, and will continue to be a strong play whenever he is facing a right handed pitcher.
Outfield: $3,200 Guillermo Heredia- This is yet another pick that carries a good deal of risk. Nevertheless, the matchup here is too good to pass up on. Heredia hasn’t been the most consistent of players, but he has shown the ability to put together big games: something that is very important in daily fantasy baseball.
Outfield: $3,600 Max Kepler- Kepler is another Twins player that should benefit from the matchup with Yovani Gallardo. He has played very well recently and should be able to continue that trend. The young outfielder is a relatively safe pick with some home run potential as well.
