Pitcher: $9,000 Ervin Santana- Right handed pitchers this year have done pretty well against the Milwaukee Brewers, and Santana should be able to find that same success. Albeit the fact that he struggled a bit a couple of weeks ago, Santana has put together a dominant season. There aren’t that many strong options at the pitcher position for tonight, which only makes Santana a more enticing pick. Also, his price is at a point where it leaves you a decent amount of flexibility when making the rest of your lineup.
Catcher: $2,700 Matt Wieters- This price seems way too low for the type of production he can offer. Wieters will have the opportunity to have a big game as he draws a matchup with Justin Nicolino. At a position with a paucity of quality options, Wieters stands out as an excellent pick.
First Base: $3,000 Eric Thames- Thames’ price is at a point where starting him is very affordable. He slowed down a bit after his herculean start to the year, but he has still put together a few big games recently. He will look for some more success against the inexperienced Luke Weaver.
Second Base: $3,300 Scooter Gennett- Gennett erupted for a monster four home run game earlier this year, showing his abundance of upside. While you shouldn’t expect the same performance today, he should still be able to turn in a strong game. He obliterates righties and will face one in Chris Flexen.
Third Base: $3,300 Travis Shaw- There is a perpetual risk that comes with starting Shaw, but his home run potential makes up for most of that risk. I don’t usually like starting players similar to Shaw, but there aren’t that many strong options at third base. He doesn’t have that much of a floor for today’s game, but he does have plenty of upside.
Shortstop: $4,300 Francisco Lindor- Lindor didn’t have the best first half of the season, but he has turned things around in the second half. He has showcased his power so far this year, but at a detriment to his contact as his batting average is subpar. A big game could be in the works for Lindor as he draws an excellent matchup with Jamie Garcia.
Outfield: $3,000 Scott Schebler- Schebler is always a risky play, but he could be a strong contrarian play. Not many people will feature him in their lineup due to the risk that he possesses. Most of his value rests in his ability to hit home runs so if he is able to hit one out today, he will end up being an excellent value pick.
Outfield: $2,800 Matt Adams- Him making the move to Atlanta has benefited him greatly. Adams absolutely obliterates righties, making it a good thing that he is set to face one in Mark Leiter Jr. This is a great value pick as Adams offers an abundance of potential for a great price.
Outfield: $3,600 Kyle Schwarber- The Cubs draw an excellent matchup with the inexperienced Chad Kuhl. Schwarber destroys righties, meaning a big game could be in the works for him. He is always a risky play due to his inability to accrue base hits, but his immense power at this price is difficult to pass up on.
