Looking back on last night’s slate I have some serious regrets. I wish I had more exposure to both Bradley Beal and Russell Westbrook, and less exposure to Hassan Whiteside. Nevertheless, I was able to cash in most of my lineups thanks to my heavy exposure to Markieff Morris and Stephen Curry, and a lack of complete duds in my lineup. Tonight features a ten game slate, but it is rather starved for value plays. Many people will want to go with the stars/scrubs approach given the amount of star power that will be on display, but that will be difficult without a couple of strong salary-relief players. A majority of my lineups will likely feature players from these three games: Indiana at Cleveland, Houston at New Orleans, and New York at Phoenix. Each of those games will be played at a very fast pace and should stay close throughout.

This is only a first reaction to the players on a given slate. If you would like a FanDuel Daily Fantasy Basketball lineup, you can purchase one below. Also, our year-long pass is now available for 2018-2019. The year-long pass gives you a lineup a day for each day of the year for each sport and is only $299.99.

Point Guard: $5,400 Darren Collison- First I want to say that FanDuel hates Darren Collison for some reason. They consistently underprice him and at his current price point, 5x value would hit his season average for FPPG. Him achieving 5x value is basically his floor with 7x value being what he will likely end up hitting. He is probably my favorite value option of the slate since he is about $600 too cheap in my opinion. His matchup with the likes of Isaiah Thomas and Derrick Rose is the icing on the cake. Kemba Walker is another strong play given his matchup with Dennis Schroder. Walker consistently is under owned and that makes him a strong tournament play.

Shooting Guard: $8,000 Devin Booker- Booker has carried the Phoenix Suns offense on his back when he is on the court and that has translated into plenty of fantasy production. He has the ability to heat up at a moments notice and tends to perform very well in fast-paced high scoring affairs. He isn’t a player that is known for his floor, but thanks to his high usage rate, he can be trusted in cash games. Booker makes for an intriguing tournament play nearly every night because of his near-limitless ceiling (case in point: his 70 real point bonanza last year). The New York Knicks lack lockdown perimeter defense and that has caused plenty of shooting guards of a lesser caliber than Booker to have huge games. Victor Oladipo is my next favorite shooting guard play here, but his albatross of a salary makes me apprehensive when it comes to rostering him in cash games.

Small Forward: $10,900 LeBron James- Father Time hasn’t caught up to LeBron yet as he turned back the clock for yet another MVP-caliber season. He has singlehandedly put his Cleveland Cavaliers on his back at times this year and that has led to plenty of fantasy success. There is a chance that James attains 6x value, but 5x value is really all you need at this price point. Bojan Bogdanovic will struggle to contain King James right out of the gate and there isn’t really anyone else they can call on to guard him. Also, if you enjoy putting faith into narrative, James should have added motivation to perform well and silence the Cavs’ haters and doubters.

Power Forward: $6,300 Thaddeus Young- Young is one of my favorite tournament plays of the entire slate. Given the surplus of strong options at each position, I fully expect Young to get lost in the shuffle. He tends to perform better in fast-paced game environments which this one should be. The Cavs stated that they will be shaking things up in their starting lineup by sending Jae Crowder to the bench in favor of Tristan Thompson. That move shifts the rather slow-footed Kevin Love to the power forward position and he will struggle to stay in front of the more athletic and explosive Thaddeus Young. Anthony Davis is another very strong play if you want to pay up at the power forward spot. He should feast on Ryan Anderson and anyone else the Houston Rockets throw at him (except maybe Luc Mbah a Moute).

Center: $7,800 Clint Capela- Capela had one of his best games of the season the last time he faced the New Orleans Pelicans. I expect him to come very close to matching that effort if not exceeding it. The Rockets will need his size down low against the modern day twin towers, Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins. Tristan Thompson is one of the best value plays at the center position and he is primed for success against the Indiana Pacers’ porous front court. Him being in the starting lineup will increase both his minutes and fantasy appeal. Jusuf Nurkic draws an excellent matchup with Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks, but he is a tournaments-only player for me given his volatile fantasy production.
