Instead of just focusing on players based on how good of a play they are on FanDuel, I have decided to expand my analysis to Draft Kings and Yahoo as well. That also means that you can now purchase lineups and advice packages for Draft Kings and Yahoo as well as FanDuel. I am making a few tweaks to play projection models so soon you will be able to purchase daily algorithm-produced projections. If you would like to purchase any of our packages, simply scroll down to the bottom of the article or click on the Lineup Store tab.

I haven’t had a ton of time to just sit down and scour over the slate just yet, but man, is it looking good. There are plenty of interesting matchups, revenge narratives, value plays, GPP plays, and superstars to pay up for. This article will give my favorite overall play at each position regardless of site, but will break down plays on certain sites as well.

Point Guard: Russell Westbrook- A general rule of thumb is to play Russell Westbrook whenever you expect him to be angry. That anger fuels him and gives him added motivation to perform well. Seeing as how he will be facing the Golden State Warriors and former teammate Kevin Durant, I expect Russ to be very motivated in this one. There are plenty of strong value plays on this slate, which makes paying up for him even easier. He is a better play on FanDuel and Yahoo given how it is easier to fit monstrous salaries into your lineup. That doesn’t mean he isn’t a strong play on Draft Kings, just that I like him a bit more on the other sites. Josh Hart has point guard eligibility on Yahoo and, at minimum price, is a near must-start option. On FanDuel he is a shooting guard so I will save my analysis for the next paragraph. Even if Kyrie Irving sits I will be fading Terry Rozier and his $7,000 price tag on FanDuel.

Shooting Guard: Josh Hart- As I mentioned earlier, Hart is listed as a point guard on Yahoo and a shooting guard on FanDuel. Since FanDuel is the larger site I will be looking at him as a shooting guard in this article. Hart has put together back-to-back 30+ fantasy point games ever since being inserted into the starting lineup in favor of Tyler Ennis, and I don’t expect him to slow down now. While his big games have come in favorable matchups, neither of them were in matchups as juicy as the one he will have tonight. No team doles out fantasy points quite like the Phoenix Suns. They have struggled to defend every position (except center) and have been especially atrocious when it comes to guarding opposing backcourts. Hart is a must-play on Yahoo at minimum price and is nearly a must-play on FanDuel even though he costs $5,000. Still, all he would need is 25 fantasy points to attain 5x value and 8x value is very realistic. The potential for a blowout makes me a bit weary of playing James Harden, but he still makes sense as a GPP option. Other than that, most shooting guards either are overpriced or have difficult matchups, but you could make a case for D’Angelo Russell as a low-owned contrarian option.

Small Forward: Robert Covington- This position especially is filled with big-names so this play may come as a surprise to you. The fact that there are all these big names only makes Covington a better play as ownership on him will be rock-bottom. His price tag has come all the way down to $5,900 on FanDuel and had a slump-breaking game his last time out. The Philadelphia 76ers will need him on the court as much as possible in this one as he will be tasked with defending the likes of Bradley Beal and Otto Porter Jr. A majority of Covington’s value comes from steals and three pointers; each of which seems to either come in bunches or not at all. That makes him a very volatile player, and one that is best suited for tournaments. LeBron James is also a strong play, but I have him second in my list of superstars to pay up for. I expect this to be a game where he comes out with something to prove and he couldn’t have a better matchup to do that in. Josh Jackson is also a nice value play and should carry more of the offensive load with Devin Booker sidelined.

Power Forward: Draymond Green- He isn’t necessarily that fun or exciting of a player roster, but you can’t deny that he gets the job done. His value comes in the fact that he can put up numbers in every single category. Green performs better on a bigger stage and that will certainly be the case against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Green should also have added motivation given the fact that Steven Adams plays for the Thunder and the two have a history together. Kristaps Porzingis is cheap across the industry, but I view him as more of a secondary play than a core play. Sadly power forward is by far the thinnest position on this slate.

Center: Tristan Thompson- Thompson was a very popular play when he was first inserted into the starting lineup, but that buzz has since died down after a couple of lackluster performances. Thompson shouldn’t shoulder all the blame for that as in his five starts he has had to face off against the likes of Hassan Whiteside, Clint Capela, and Andre Drummond (twice). Things will be easier this go around as he will face the Orlando Magic, a team that struggles to rebound and defend the paint. Marc Gasol is viable against a very beatable Atlanta front court, but only on Yahoo, not FanDuel.
